Dit is het punt waarop Femke in Zweden al van haar stoel valt van het lachen. We hadden er weer eentje die denkt dat wij dom zijn:

We waren al bijna zeker dat dit weer een scam was (een Dr. met een zeer algemene engelse naam, een wat grotere groep voor een langere periode), maar Pepijn had even gegoogled en dit instituut bestaat echt en er werkt dus echt iemand met deze naam. En er komen hier in ons gebied (we hebben het grootste aaneengesloten bosgebied van Centraal Europa) regelmatig bosbouwers en ecologen uit de hele wereld leren over bosbehoud etc, dus het is niet onmogelijk. Ik was wat sceptischer dan Pepijn, maar die wilde wel ofwel even lachen ofwel wat serieuze business binnenhalen, en waagde er een email aan:

It all depends on your wishes, we can arrange lunch for 24, but have no a la carte restaurant. We recommend that we agree the menu in advance.
We normally have a daily set menu in the evening. Are you looking for hot or cold food, how many courses, or buffet, i.e. what are your requirements, and do you have a budget in mind?
Please note that we do not serve bavarian cuisine but international from all over the world. We can accommodate dietary or religious foodconstraints, as long as we are informed beforehand.

Het was even een paar dagen stil, wat toch wel strookte met een echte aanvraag (scammers springen er meestal meteen bovenop) en toen kregen we antwoord. Jaaaaaa, een echte Dr. Dr. scammer….

Attn: Natascha Porter & Pepijn Boelens,

Thanks for your response with your Menu. We will make a deposit payment of Euros 2.000,00 to you, this is because we are not yet sure of what the guests might like to eat and drink. Our menu request will reach you before our arrival. The balance payment will be made on our arrival.  I hereby inform you that we are getting a direct sponsorship from United Kingdom. A cheque payment will be sent to you from our sponsors in the amount of Euros 10.000,00 that will cover the cost of our Lunch and other necessary arrangements for us.

However, we also made an arrangement with a pre paid Transport Consultant who will take care of our flight arrangements to other destinations and transportation requirements during our entire stay, we have decided that only one person will have to handle the cheque.

So once you are in receipt of the cheque you are required to cash the cheque payment then you deduct Euros 2.000,00 which is the deposit payment for our Lunch and send the balance of Euros 8.000,00 toTransport Consultant for them to arrange our flight ticket to your property and other logistics arrangment. I will send you the agent details once everything is concluded.

Kindly confirm this and provide me with your: (1) YOUR FULL NAME as it will be on the cheque payment

  Een echte scammer, wat leuk! Je weet het zeker als ze direct beginnen te zeiken over een "transport consultant" die ze niet met een cheque of creditcard kunnen betalen, en dat jij even 10.000 Euro mag overmaken. "Thanks for your response with your Menu". Hûh??? We hebben ze geen menu gestuurd! Of er iemand wat te eten krijgt en wat, dat doet blijkbaar niet terzake. Wat het kost is ook niet belangrijk. Het enige wat hij wil is van die valse cheque af voor vééééél geld. En hij zoekt een randdebiel die erin trapt….

Pepijn besluit dat hij wel even verder wil teasen en tevens wil laten merken dat we hem allang door hebben:

Thank you for your lunch reservation. However, due to banking and Finanzamt (tax authorities) rules that have come into effect we canonly accept payment for services rendered (or as prepayment). Your TC will have to be paid separately. In effect we can accept, and will gladly accept, the 2000 Euros down payment, but please note that a UK check is difficult and expensive to cash if we get it accepted at all. Check fraud has been rife lately, so that is one more reason why institutions are being difficult. Any charges for cashing would have to come out of the down payment. Effectively, direct money transfer is better any day. Please have your sponsor make out a cheque of EUR 2000, to ‘Haus am Berg, Boelens & Porter GbR’ and address/phone as below, or ask them to contact us for bank data.
Alternatively, your TC, if they also have a TA license, is authorised to buy in lunch. They can pay us 2000 if you have them cash the check.That would be an elegant solution to our administrative problem.

Tsja…. al die cheque-fraude de laatste tijd ook….
We zijn benieuwd hoe lang de heen en weer correspondentie gaat duren. Bij Femke was de datum dat ze bij Hotel Storfors zouden komen logeren al máánden voorbij zonder dat er iemand was opgedoken toen haar Nigeriaanse crimineel nog steeds zat te emmeren over zijn cheque.
