Dr Dr Matthew van het Kerala Forest Institute uit India is nog steeds op zoek naar een lunchadresje. Al sinds april. Wat zullen die inmiddels een honger hebben… Ze denken zeker dat we aan Alzheimer lijden en dat we niet weten dat het scammers zijn die al eerder precies hetzelfde aan ons gestuurd hebben:

Tsja, als ik al sinds april op mijn eten wachtte, zou ik ook een urgent response willen. Ik mail hem grinnikend terug dat we al sinds de afgesproken datum in juli op hem wachten, en dat hij nooit is komen opdagen met zijn makkers om te komen eten en dat we er deze keer toch maar van af zien.

Oh, wat leuk, meteen na het antwoord pingt er nog eentje in de inbox van iemand die denkt dat we dom zijn. Wat gokken jullie…dezelfde persoon? Het geld is zeker weer op in Nigeria:

Pepijn heeft nog wel een kant-en-klaar antwoord aan een vorige scammer wat hij kan copy-pasten. Hij vertelt er meteen bij dat buitenlandse cheques in Duitsland niet geind kunnen worden. Het antwoord duurt niet lang:

Tuurlijk, je zit nog steeds met je cheque in je maag waar je vanaf wilt, dus dat het hotel die niet wil negeer je even. En taadaa…daar is de logistics agency weer… Zouden ze in Nigeria niet weten dat dat gewoon een travelagent heet? Je bent een doctor uit New York en schrijft zo belabberd engels… Mmm… Ik besluit nog even schaap te spelen en mail terug dat ik ietwat in verwarring ben: hij zegt in New York te zijn, maar geeft een engels telefoonnummer en een adres in IJsland (er bestaat een plaats in IJsland die zo heet). Ik wil van hem weten van welke bank die cheque dan is? Hij zit nu koortsachtig voor zijn computer te bedenken hoe hij zich hier uit gaat kletsen…het antwoord laat al een paar uur op zich wachten…. Let zelf vooral even op dat adres in IJsland…66°Noorderbreedte…sure….hoe dom denken ze dat we hier zijn.
